Every year, Coachella boasts one of the most diverse lineups of any major music festival, but this year they’ve gone all out by booking a techno marching band by the name of MEUTE.

“When you tell people we’re a techno marching band, people already have images in their heads,” said Meute founder and trumpeter Thomas Burhorn. Variety. “And then when they see what we do and hear what we do, they can realize…it’s even deeper than they could have imagined.”
The 11-person unit hails from Germany, where techno has long been a staple of the country’s storied nightlife sector. They took what was long considered purely electronic music and breathed new life into it, even turning it into acoustic music.

MEUTE is expected to make waves both weekends at Coachella, gracing the stage on April 15 and 22. The band will also play an additional set between performances on April 18 at the Mayan in downtown LA.
