The Allman Betts Band is an American rock band formed in 2018, they include the sons of three founding members of the Allman Brothers Band – Devon Allman (son of Greg Allman), Duane Betts (son of Dickey Betts) and Berry Duane Oakley (son of the original Allman Brothers Band bassist Berry Oakley). Their show features new music, songs from their solo projects and classic tunes from Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman.

The origins of the group began when Allman hosted a concert in 2017 at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco to honor the music and memory of his father, founder of Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and vocalist Gregg Allman, and also to make his debut. with his new group, The Devon Allman Project. . A proverbial star-studded affair – with guests such as G. Love and Robert Randolph – the marathon performance also marked the start of the partnership with Duane Betts.

Duane Betts had recently turned solo after touring with folk rockers Dawes, and would be the opening artist for the Devon Allman Project 2018 world tour, as well as joining Allman each evening for a musical nod to their respective fathers. .

In the wake of Project’s hugely successful world tour, Devon and Duane called up their old friend Oakley and pitched the idea of ​​joining them. The trio’s musical friendship dates back to The Allman Brothers Band’s 20th anniversary summer tour in 1989, when the three first met and often met the inductees into the Rock-And-Roll Hall of Fame; teenage descendants rightly joining a rock and roll heritage.


They recruited seasoned players from the Project ensemble: slide guitar wizard Johnny Stachela, drummer John Lum and percussionist R Scott Bryan. In November 2018, they announced the formation of The Allman Betts Band.
