Charlotte Smith has been named the new editor of BBC Music Magazine. Switch to the brand of the rhinestone, where she was a writer, Smith takes the role in BBC Music Magazinethe year of the 30th anniversary.
Having already undertaken a work experience internship with the title, Smith will join the BBC Music Magazine team in January 2022, following the departure of Oliver Condy at the start of the year. She holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Royal College of Music, London and an MA in English from the University of Cambridge. Since graduating, Smith has held editorial positions at Gramophone and the rhinestone, as well as working as a freelance writer. She became editor of the rhinestone in 2017, after working as the magazine’s online editor.
“I am delighted to take on the role of BBC Music Magazineeditor at a particularly exciting time as the brand approaches its 30th anniversary, ”says Charlotte Smith. “The magazine gave me my first glimpse into music journalism shortly after leaving college, and it paved the way for so many wonderful musical encounters over the years.”
Charlotte Smith will begin her role at BBC Music Magazine on January 10, as the team prepares its March 2022 issue.
