Damon Albarn announces January 24 concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall

The Los Angeles Philharmonic today announced that Damon Albarn will perform a rare concert unique to the United States in support of his recently released second solo album The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows on January 24, 2022 at 8 p.m. at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows evolved during lockdown into 11 new tracks included in the album, having originally been conceived as an orchestral piece inspired by the Icelandic landscape, in a career of perpetual musical changes and d Exploration, the record discovers new ground, finding vast orchestral arrangements nestled around intimate melodies, discordance bordering on contagious majesty, all for some of Albarn’s most striking vocal performances to date. Much like the beauty and chaos of the natural world for which it is the soundtrack, The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows vividly documents the emotional ebb and flow of the human condition, in all of its extremes, serving as a document. enriching the soul for our time.

For his performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Albarn will perform on piano, accompanied by strings, performing songs from The Nearer the Fountain … alongside selections from his extensive songbook Blur, Gorillaz, The Good, The Bad. & The Queen and various solo and collaborative works.

Damon Albarn is a singer, songwriter, producer and songwriter whose eclectic musical style and observational lyrics have made him one of the UK’s most influential and interesting musicians.

A founding member of Blur, Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad & The Queen, he received six Brits, two Ivor Novello Awards and a Grammy Award.
