For over 50 years, Hot Tuna, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady have brought a wealth of emotions to their music through deep perceptions and immense talent. They always inject new energy into their sound with constant improvisation that pushes their musical horizons further. Go out for the music and the exhilaration – Hot Tuna is on tour!
From their teenage days playing together in the Washington, DC area, through years of inventive psychedelic rock in San Francisco (inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996), to their current blues sound. acoustic and electric, no one has consistently led American music over the past 50 years than Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, the founders and core members of Hot Tuna.
Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady are undoubtedly in the discussion about who are among the greatest musicians; each has distinguished themselves by developing a style that is easy to spot and that others often try to emulate. Importantly, Kaukonen, and Casady, have over time forged a partnership as vital to their art as raw talent.
In the latest issue of MOJO Magazine, Michael Simmons says “[Jorma] the 80 year old man is an example of the [60’s] best ideals of the movement: an open and curious mind, a sense of justice, an evolving creativity, an irreverent spirit. “
Jack always adds musical excellence and understanding. As the sentiment for a song grows within Jack, it grows and deepens “It’s hard to bring it out with precision, that entity that’s so hard to put into words … the strangest art form, ”says Jack.
Together, Jorma and Jack have made their way through the past five decades, still expressing the emotions of the contemporary era.
