Khruangbin teams up with DJ/composer Quantum for a hold on Booker T. and the MGThe R&B classic, “Green Onions”. Available as Amazon Music exclusive, the cover celebrates the 60th anniversary of the original this year.
“Green Onions” is instrumental, both in the sense that it has no words and was also the basis of the music that followed it. Khruangbin and Quantic draw a direct line from Booker T. to the present day with this modern take on classic composition. K-bin finds happiness on this groove that seems like it could stretch for eternity but is limited to a modest running time of 4:21 minutes. Quantic is able to carve out a distinct space in the guitarist Mark Speerbass player Laura Leeand drummer Donald “DJ” Johnsonits well established.

The cover of “Green Onions” follows the collaboration of Khruangbin’s second EP with Leon Bridges, texan moon. The sequel from the Texas taste-making couple arrived in February, two years after the original. Khruangbin is currently in the middle of the international scene Space walking tourwho has already seen notable group appearances at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Radio City Music Hall, Glastonbury– where they performed with Bridges – and more.
