Lee University’s School of Music will be hosting a workshop on Saturday, December 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for high school students preparing to audition for the 2021-2022 All-State East Senior Clinic Bands as part of the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association.
During the workshop, students in grades 9-12 will come together to receive practical advice from professional musicians at SOM. Sessions will cover studies, scales and sight reading, as well as hearing strategies such as how to warm up and manage nerves. Participants must bring their instruments and music.
“Auditioning for All-East is a big deal,” said Dr. Brian Reichenbach, assistant trumpet professor at Lee. These students rise to the challenge to perform with some of the best musicians in the area, and as one of the best music programs in East Tennessee, we offer them the opportunity to hone their hearing skills and to learn from our exceptional faculty of the School of Music alongside students from other high schools.
To participate, students must register before Saturday December 11. The cost is $ 10 and lunch is provided. All students are welcome, even if they are not auditioning.
