Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild Explains the “Rules” That Keep the Band Together – Everett Post

Over two decades in their career as a band, country quartet little big city shares their key to longevity.

During a conversation with Pioneer Radio with Fancy Hagood on Apple Music, the band Karen Fairchild explains that for LBT, it all comes down to unanimity. This means that all four band members must agree on every major career decision – from choosing a single to booking a show.

“We just made rules. They’re not really rules. It was things that we knew would keep the group together,” Karen explains, “and it was about taking care of each other first and foremost, no matter what was going on in the business.

This approach has served LBT well over the years. If they wanted to stay together for a long time, they knew they had to like each other over individual songs or career changes, Karen continues.

“It takes all four of us to say, ‘No, we all want to cut this song. Then you look forward to 10 years and you sing a c***py song that you didn’t mean to sing and you’re still mad about it.

Years later, Little Big Town still follows that mantra of putting everything else first.

“Even today, this morning, it was like, ‘Do you want to play this show?’ Most of us responded and said, ‘This is our time with our kids.’ So we’re going to move on,” Karen says. “We’re very together in those choices.

Little Big Town have just announced their 10th studio album, Mr Sun. The first single, “Hell Yeah”, is out now.
