MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The second day of the Beale Street Music Festival is back!
Festival attendees have been evacuated from the park due to the threat of severe weather, but are permitted to return to the park for the headliner performance.
Before the storms hit the Mid-South, Action News 5 spoke to festival-goers who say they’re delighted the music festival is finally back, and they’re thrilled for tonight’s headliner, Megan The Stallion.
” She is ! I can tell you that the energy just when we announced was acceptable. Now you see Megan fans walking around and you know it’s going to be an amazing show tonight! Memphis vice president of marketing and programming in May said Randy Blevins.
And the food is also a big hit.
We caught up with Arnetta Williams walking away from Jason Brown’s barbecue tent.
She said she was back at the Beale Street Music Festival for the first time since leaving Memphis to join the military in 1993.
“Oh no, we’re not afraid of the rain! We soldiers. It’s true, it’s raining on the army! said Williams. “We operate rain or shine. Of course, if there is anything dangerous or bad weather that is dangerous, we make the appropriate accommodations at that time.
Blevins says he wants to see people having fun, but fan safety is the number one priority.
“We are working closely with law enforcement and other agencies to make sure everything is okay. The best thing to do is to download our app to ensure that you receive all of our updates. As we have done at every event,” Blevins said.
