Opera artists from Astana perform at the Qyzyljar music festival in Petropavlovsk

NUR-SULTAN – The musicians and artists of the Astana Opera received a thunderous ovation after performing the last two days of the open-air music festival Qyzyljar which runs from July 1 to 7 in Petropavlovsk, in the north of the Kazakhstan, the theater’s press service reported.

The event brought together around 300 Kazakh, German, Italian and Bashkir artists in various fields of modern culture, including folk and modern choreography, folk and pop music, jazz, rock and classical music.

Even though the theater team had to present Gioachino Rossini’s comic one-act opera farca “The Silken Ladder” on the stage of the Russian Drama Theater in Pogodin due to weather conditions, the guests were deeply impressed by the skills of artists.

“Unfortunately, few people, especially the younger generation, now listen to classical music, while opera remains something magical and incomprehensible. Today’s performance by the orchestra and soloists of the Astana Opera has lifted the veil on the world of high art,” said Yelena Kolyuzhnaya, a resident of the city, who attended the last concert. of gala.

Kolyuzhnaya said that “the enchanting music awakens hidden emotions and brings tears to the eyes with excitement”, expressing his gratitude to the talented musicians and soloists.

According to conductor and Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Abzal Mukhitdinov, the gala concert featured arias and duets from operas by Kazakh and foreign composers, as well as popular classical music.

The theater soloists brightened up the last day of the festival with their interpretations of the most famous opera compositions, including Habanera’s aria from “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, Don José’s aria from “Carmen”, the verses d’Escamillo of “Carmen”, a barcarolle of “Les Contes d’Hoffman” by Jacques Offenbach and the song “Funiculì, Funiculà” by Luigi Denza among others.

Speaking about the goals of the theater’s participation in the festival, Mukhitdinov noted the popularization of opera among the citizens of the country who do not have the opportunity to attend the opera and the promotion of the theater and its talented artists.
