RED MILL! THE MUSICAL cancels performances on May 14 and 15 due to Covid Within Cast


Today’s and tomorrow’s performances of the Broadway hit Moulin Rouge! The musical has been cancelled. An Instagram post from the show’s official account broke the news. The notice reads: “Due to positive cases of COVID in the business, today and tomorrow’s performances of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway are cancelled.”

He continues, “The show is scheduled to resume Tuesday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at the Al Hirschfeld Theater (302 W. 45th Street). Ticket holders for canceled performances will be contacted by their outlet. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

On Tuesday, May 10, Derek Klena, Ashley Loren, Caleb Marshall-Villarreal and Declan Bennett entered the show. Ashley Loren plays Satine, having played over 100 performances as Satine Alternate since Moulin Rouge! The musical opened in the summer of 2019. Derek Klena, recently nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Jagged Little Pill, plays Christian. Declan Bennett, who previously starred on Broadway in Rent and American Idiot, plays The Duke of Monroth. The original Moulin Rouge! Musical actor Caleb Marshall-Villarreal now plays Santiago. Natalie Mendoza, Tony Award winner Aaron Tveit, Tam Mutu and Ricky Rojas played their final performance on Sunday, May 8. Read the full story here.

Red Mill! The Musical is the winner of ten 2021 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, two Drama League Awards, including Outstanding Production of a Musical, five Drama Desk Awards, and ten Citations from the Outer Critics Circle Award, including New Broadway Musical.
