The Gadsden region has seen many new business venues open during 2021. In particular, several restaurants have opened their doors for the first time, opened new locations in different locations or revamped their kitchens.

Don Bigotes spread to Gadsden
Looking for a new place to eat Tex-Mex? Look no further than Don Bigotes. The Centre’s restaurant expanded into the area in February at 1729 Rainbow Drive. It is open from 10:45 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Don Bigotes menu offers a wide variety of classic options such as tacos, enchiladas and nachos. It also has specials throughout the week, such as $ 2.99 margaritas on Mondays and Taco Tuesdays. The restaurant also offers live music and fun community events like a karaoke night on Wednesdays.

NOLA on Second offers a new approach to seafood
NOLA on Second opened in late 2020 but has revamped its menu at 208 S. Second St. It is open 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and offers brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
NOLA on 2nd’s unique offerings include a new special menu every week, featuring seafood favorites such as scallops, trout, and red snappers, as well as land favorites with porterhouse steaks and burgers. . It also offers exclusive dishes such as shrimp, oatmeal and crab cakes.

SÀ Cantina highlights street food
In September, SÀ Cantina opened as a restaurant that described itself as “an upscale Mexican taco store for street food”. Located downtown at 519 Broad St., it’s open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Dog House gets a new indoor location downtown
The Dog House food stall is a common site at the corner of Fourth and Broad streets, offering street food such as hot dogs and Polish sausages. Now, with Dog House 2.0 located at 601 Walnut St., the popular dining venue can stay open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Downtown Chief offers casual burgers
In February, the Downtown Chief opened as a new burger restaurant with a full bar and a relaxed dress code. Located at 210 Locust St., the restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The menu features classic American fare like fried green tomatoes, a variety of signature burgers and salads, and popular dessert options like fried pies and milkshakes. Live music is offered during the warmer months for an enhanced dining experience.

Las Brisas returns with a new location
Las Brisas, which closed in 2020, made a comeback to the local food scene ahead of the Christmas break on December 19. The new location, downtown at 113 N. Seventh St., will continue to operate from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily except Friday, when it is open until 10 p.m.
The menu continues to feature Tex-Mex fare like fajitas and nachos, along with new menu items like Mexican torta. Las Brisas also offers a variety of drinks, such as Mexican coffee and mixed cocktails.

Tre Ragazzi opens a location in the shopping center
In August, Tre Ragazzi’s opened its new location at Gadsden Mall, in a space that has doubled in size from its old site in downtown Gadsden. This new location, located in Suite D at 1001 Rainbow Drive, and its two other locations are open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

C & J’s Crab Shack is moving downtown
C & J’s Crab Shack also moved from downtown in November to its new location at 1504 Rainbow Drive. The new location is only open four days a week, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
The restaurant offers a variety of Cajun and seafood dishes, such as okra, crab dip, and shrimp and oatmeal. It also offers options to buy seafood meat by the pound via mussels, crabs, and crayfish.
