Sammy Hagar claims Pantera, Aerosmith, Motley Crue and Velvet Revolver all asked him to join their groups

Imagine if the lead singer of your favorite rock band was actually the lead singer of another amazing rock band. Well, according to Consequence.net, Sammy Hagar, the lead singer of the iconic rock band Van Halen, could have been Sammy Hagar of Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Pantera or Velvet Revolver.

Known as “The Red Rocker”, Hagar says his manager asked him to join Pantera, the famous heavy metal band. Unfortunately for Pantera’s manager, Hagar refused. He says, “And I said, ‘No, not after Van Halen. I’m not going to join another group, especially to cover someone else, and this and that. It seemed like Hagar had a bit of a habit of turning down offers to join legendary rock bands. Hagar also mentioned offers from other legendary rock groups that he interestingly turned down.

Apparently, Hagar was also asked to consider joining the Aerosmith after Steven Tyler broke up from the group to appear as judge on American Idol and create his solo disc. According to Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, the band was looking for another lead singer and Sam was “a really sweet guy, easy to get along with.” And he definitely had the tips.

Mötley Crüe and Velvet Revolver didn’t have much luck winning Hagar either. It’s amazing to think that a man so successful could have led some of the most amazing bands of all time. Yet Hagar has always been successful as a solo artist and is still known as a great rock and roll influence.
