PORTSMOUTH — Sounds of the Seacoast, an a cappella women’s hair salon, invites women and girls of all ages to come sing with them at TEDxPortsmouth on May 20. The choir was asked to perform a song to open the TEDxPortsmouth event at 9am. and felt it would be a great opportunity to include women from across the Seacoast region to join them on stage.
Starting Monday, April 11, Sounds of the Seacoast will host six weeks of rehearsals from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in Newington, before the show. Participants do not need to be musically trained. They will receive sheet music, predominant learning tracks and lots of tips.
“We were beyond thrilled when the organizers of TEDxPortsmouth asked us if we would open their event this year with a song that would resonate with all attendees,” said Wendy McCoole, Director of Sounds of the Seacoast. “Inviting other women from the community to help us fill the stage with their vibrant voices will be a memory we will not forget for a long time.”
Those interested in joining the choir can find information and a registration form on the Sounds of the Seacoast website: www.soundsoftheseacoast.org. Questions can also be directed to director@soundsofthesecoast.org.
